Welcome to 2016
Welcome to 2016 a brand new and what could be a brand new start for you. If you didn’t make changes and resolutions on 1 January – don’t worry. Why most people think this is the best day for changes, actually every day is a great day to start making positive changes to your life. The sooner you start, the sooner you can reap the rewards.
Here are some top tips to get you off to the right start.
#1 Decide on your goals for the year
What do you want to achieve this year? We can decide on the priorities later and it need not take all year but for this step just think about what you want this year to bring. Good questions to ask are:
- What do I want to learn?
- What do I want to have or own?
- What positive choices do I want to make about my health and wellbeing?
- What do I want to achieve?
#2 Set a deadline for your goals
Goals without deadlines are dreams! Sequence your goals – you don’t want to be working on too many at once – this is where most people fail with New Year resolutions. They think they have to change everything in January. Just pick one goal and give it focus for 30 days. You will be amazed in what you can achieve. Then start on the next.
What is the most important or most achieve able goal you can make real headway on in the next 30 days. Is that the one you want to go for? Give it a deadline.
#3 Create an action plan
Create an action plan. It doesn’t need to be complicated – in fact simple is better. May be just jot down a sequence of actions in your diary on a list, or on post it notes. Take pleasure in crossing out those actions or ripping up those post it notes as you complete them.
#4 Take action each and every day
Keep up momentum by taking action every day. Even if it’s just a small action or step towards your goal. Consistent and sustainable action is better than stretch and burn. Reward yourself as you get to complete key actions and milestones along the way.
Good luck – and have a successful and happy year whenever you start!
